Jumble Sale - 12 July 2003







A profitable jumble sale was held on Saturday 12th July to raise funda for the Village Hall. Thank you to all helpers, those who donated jumble and those who came and bought.

Bonfire and Fireworks - Sunday 4 November 2001

This year the village bonfire was blessed with a fine evening. The event was held for the second time on the cricket field. Thanks to all those who brought wood, the bonfire doubled in size on the Sunday afternoon. Hot dogs, soup, sweets and drinks were on sale.







Festival Weekend - 30 June/1 July 2001

 
Church End was closed to traffic while Sharnbrook Upper School Marching Band played to entertain at the start of the Street Market.   Pinchmill Lower School pupils then performed a series of folk dances.
 
The best dressed cowboy competition at the Saturday Evening Barn Dance.   All ages enjoyed the dancing.

CHRISTMAS DANCE - 16 December 2000

Another successful evening of wining, dining and dancing. Over 70 people attended. Everybody dressed up for the occasion and brought their own hampers of food. Music for dancing was privided by Mojo's band and a disco.

BONFIRE NIGHT - 5 November 2000

A wild night of gales and rain ! This event was held at the cricket field this year to aviod the newly built houses at Swansholme beside the playing field. A small bonfire only was lit - to avoid the main bonfire taking the rest of the village with it. The fireworks were enjoyed by a loyal and select band of supporters warming themselves on hot dogs and drinking Marjorie's hot soup under the awning of a friendly caravan.

MILLENIUM FESTIVAL WEEKEND - 1st & 2nd July 2000

This village event was organised by many different groups in the village. Activities included:


Millenium Party - 31st December 1999.


Dancing Balloons
The village was treated to a piano recital, a music quiz and dancing. Just before midnight everyone walked down to the St Mary's Church, brandishing glow-in-the-dark wands to wait in the rain for 12 o'clock to strike. A millennium cross on top of the church tower was then lit and three fireworks started the 21st century with a bang. A Yew tree was planted in the churchyard and people then returned to the Village Hall for mulled wine and mince pies.

Sharnbrook School Swing Band
The Villages were entertained by the excellent Sharnbrook Upper School Swing Band and a disco until late. Everyone organised their your own food and wine, a vast array of mouthwatering dishes were to be seen, ranging from large tureens to Chinese take-away.

There was a Guy Fawkes competition. Ben and Katie Nertney from Pavenham made the winning Guy (on the left). The prize was to help light the fire.

BASKET BALL GOAL. 11 September 1999.

  • Extending the basket ball area and erecting a new net.
    The existing concrete was extended and a new post and net erected. 100 mm of topsoil and a hole 1m wide, 1m long and 1m deep had to be dug before the concrete was delivered.
