BALL REPORT
I`m sure I don`t need to tell you how much hard work goes into organising an event like the annual ball, especially those of you involved in your own organisations. However, when the evening turns out as successful and enjoyable as our recent ball it all seems worth while, at least until you start worrying about the next one! All the essential ingredients – band, MCs, food, raffle etc. and a good venue contributed to a great evening and it`s always good to see old friends again as well as new ones.
DEMONSTRATION
On 21st March the Bedford Rotary Club held a social evening in Renhold Village Hall to raise funds for the Inyathi mission in Zimbabwe. The event took the form of a ceilidh with one or two brief displays by the demo team and some piping. The evening got off to a rather slow start with people arriving in dribs and drabs and showing more interest in gossiping than dancing. However, the combination of George`s jockeying and the music eventually got the dancing started and the rest of the evening went with the usual ceilidh swing.
There was a very nice buffet supper and bar which no doubt oiled the proceedings and I`m told £422 were made for the appeal.
